May 04,  · Pretty good but extremely generic. Pleasant but boring. Few standout tracks, "Pick up the pieces" and "blacker black." Dramatically inferior to other comparable groups like the Gladiators. I have the same criticism of this record as i do of Culture, not bad not good. Fulfills the general standards for roots vocal group but decidedly NOT special/5(5).

Sep 18,  · Outstanding roots reggae harmony by a little-known, under-appreciated band. Led By Roy Cousins, the Royals 'Pick up the Pieces' delivers in all three of my key reggae areas: message, music and voice. When each of these is present the impact is tremendous, but if even one is lacking, the overall product is merely average. This has got it all/5(5).
